Mrs. D.E. Wright underwent surgery. • Florence Oakes was ill. • Mrs. W.J. Bryan and son, of Greenville, were in Vicksburg visiting relatives.

90 Years Ago: 1934

Albert Martin earned the Silver Beaver Boy Scout Award. • Congressman Russell Ellzey said two more CCC camps will be established in Vicksburg. • Charles Franck was named manager of the Piggly Wiggly team in the City League. • Marguerite Koestler was home after spending seven months in Europe. 

80 Years Ago: 1944

Lucius Dabney III  was inducted into the U.S. Army. • Robert C. Finch died. • Homer W. Loftin, who had been doing U.S. Government work in Brazil, returned to Vicksburg. • Maj. W.W. Broome returned to Grenada Air Base after visiting his family in Vicksburg. • Staff Sgt. Charles Young, who was stationed in Trinidad, was home on furlough. 

70 Years Ago: 1954

N.M. Kahn passed away. • Dr. and Mrs. Cecil Knox were visiting on the Gulf Coast. • Mrs. Fred Young was home following surgery at the Lutheran Hospital. • R.R. Jemerson, a retired farmer, died.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Thomas announced the birth of their son, Thomas. • The Rev. and Mrs. Dan Lott were visiting relatives in South Carolina.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Miller Jr. announced the birth of their son, Lewis III. • Charles Toney was the new owner of Tumeinello’s Restaurant. • Enoch F. Davis, a retired employee of the Illinois Central Railroad, died. • Eddie L. Sims was awarded a sterling silver money clip commemorating 20 years of service at Westinghouse.

40 Years Ago: 1984

Vicky Miley received two art educator awards that ranked her among the best art teachers in the nation. • Dana Marie Ross was one today. • Charles Wilkerson died.

30 Years Ago: 1994

Mr. and Mrs. Ken Kawasaki announced the birth of their daughter, Rika. • Gladys Healey died.

20 Years Ago: 2004

Warren County had 33 wrecks in seven hours.  • A county man faced charge of felony malicious mischief. 

10 Years Ago: 2014 

A faith-based fitness camp was headed to Vicksburg.  • Flying rocks were a problem on Sherman Avenue.  • A juvenile was arrested for a bomb threat at VHS.
