Porter’s Chapel Academy was well represented, and represented well, at the MAIS basketball all-star games.
PCA’s Jae’la Smith was named the Blue team most valuable player in the Class 2A-3A girls’ game, and Ty Mack was the White team MVP in the Class 2A-3A boys game that were both played March 1 at Jackson Prep.
Smith scored a game-high 25 points for the Blue, which lost 79-62 to the White all-stars.
PCA’s Lauren Madison and Tallulah Academy’s Chandler Wood also played in the girls’ game, and PCA’s Casey Fisher was the head coach for the Blue all-stars. Madison finished with four points.
In the boys’ game, Mack scored a game-high 19 points for the White and earned his team’s MVP award, but it wasn’t enough as the Blue won 87-77.
Tallulah Academy’s Cade Morgan played alongside Mack on the White team and scored nine points.
Sharkey-Issaquena Academy’s Gary Jackson scored 12 points for the Blue and was his team’s MVP.
