Warren Central tennis sweeps Morton

Warren Central’s tennis team had a clean sweep on its home court.
The Vikings won every match, and only dropped a total of 12 games, in routing Morton 7-0 Tuesday at Halls Ferry Park.
Sam Harris in boys singles, and the No. 2 girls doubles team of Amelia King and Ellie Tennison both won 6-0, 6-0 to lead the charge.
Avery Hern defeated Abril Davila 6-4, 6-0 in girls singles, and in No. 1 girls doubles Sydney Sullivan and Lilli Feibelman beat Brooklyn Coghland and Anna McMillian 6-0, 6-1.
In the boys’ doubles matches, Warren Central’s Charles Harris and Brady Taylor won the No. 1 point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Santiago Tixtha and Luis Gaspar. In the No. 2 position, Luke Bond and Duke Esparza beat Nalla Camarillo and A.B. Reyes 6-0, 6-1.
The Vikings’ mixed doubles team of Charlie Esparza and Laura Bailey beat Gabe Denson and Hailey Jackson 6-1, 6-2.
The victory was Warren Central’s second in as many days. It also beat Natchez 4-1 in a rain-shortened match on Monday. The boys’ singles and No. 1 boys’ doubles matches were rained out, but WC won in No. 2 boys doubles, girls singles and both girls doubles matches.
Feibelman beat Kinley McBride 6-0, 6-0 in girls singles; Taylor and Gray Lampkin won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 boys doubles match; Tennison and Hern beat Peyton Bell and Zoey Wiley 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 girls doubles; and King and Bailey beat Alaina Hodges and Kilya Singleton 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 girls doubles.
Warren Central will be back on the court Thursday, when it goes on the road to play Columbus in an MHSAA Region 2-6A match. After that, the Vikings will have a well-earned break until they play in the Halls Ferry Park Classic on March 16.
Thursday’s match will be Warren Central’s 11th in 23 days.
