The Vicksburg Missy Gators climbed out of an early hole, then fell into another one that was a little too deep.

Vicksburg erased a six-run deficit to take the lead, but Pearl answered with three big innings to outlast the Missy Gators 15-10 in a softball slugfest on Thursday.

The Missy Gators (2-7) had 10 hits, including three by Trinity McGloster. She was 3-for-5 with a home run, double and five RBIs.

Lili Kistler also had two doubles and one RBI, and Raylyn Parson was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Madisyn Kimble scored two runs.

McGloster hit a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 8-all and cap Vicksburg’s comeback from an 8-2 deficit. The Missy Gators added another run on an error later in the inning to go ahead 9-8.

Skylar Brumfield put Pearl (3-6) back in front with a two-run single in the fourth inning, however, and an error brought another run in. The Lady Pirates scored twice more in both the fifth and the sixth innings and finally kept the Missy Gators in check late in the game.

McGloster hit an RBI single in the fifth inning, but Vicksburg’s last nine batters were retired in order.

Vicksburg will be back on the field Saturday at 3 p.m., at home against Perry Central. It will then take next week off for spring break and won’t play again until hosting Loyd Star on March 18.

Clinton 8, Warren Central 4
Keelyn Costancio hit an RBI double and scored a run during a three-run rally in the fourth inning that pushed Clinton (6-4) past Warren Central on Thursday.

Clinton’s big inning gave it a 6-4 lead, and it tacked on two more runs in the seventh to salt the game away.

The Lady Arrows defeated Warren Central (8-3) for the second time this season.

Keelyn Costancio finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored, and Hayden-Leigh Holifield also drove in two runs. Estrella Costancio was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and pitched a complete game for Clinton.

For Warren Central, Makayla Jackson walked twice and scored two runs, and Madison Pant was 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Jenn Smith and Sarah Cameron Fancher each doubled and scored a run.

Warren Central is off for spring break until March 16, when it plays Loyd Star and West Marion in the Brookhaven Tournament.
