R. B. Williams Sr.

R. B. Williams Sr., a Vicksburg resident, passed away Friday, May 5, in the Vicksburg Convalescent Home following a brief illness. He was 86. He had attended Norway Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Lee Williams; his mother, Ola Mae Thrasher; his wife, Paula Kelly Williams; his sons, Alonza Williams and R. B. Williams Jr.; and his brothers, Larry Williams and Harris Williams.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Lee Williams of Alabama; his four daughters, Diana Shumpert of Starkville, Martha Lee James, Mary King and Joyann Williams, all of Vicksburg;  his brothers, Benny Williams of Florida, James Williams of Vicksburg and Johnny Williams of Massachusetts; his sisters, Mary Ola McSwain, Martha Lee Lewis, Maxine Jones and Geneva Jones, all of Vicksburg; 19 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, in the Zion Traveler’s M. B. Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Adrian Clark officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, in the funeral home from 5 until 6 p.m.
