Funeral services for Alberta Doobie Scott Selmon are to be held Saturday, June 29, at First Baptist Church, 1511 Lane St. at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edmond Gibbs officiating.
Internment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 until 6 p.m. Friday, June 28, at the funeral home.
Alberta Selmon passed away Thursday, June 20, in the Merit Health River Oaks Hospital following a brief illness. She was 90.
She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church.
She was an usher for more than 75 years. She was a former member of the Electra Grand Chapter #5 Order, Esther Grand Chapter, the Heroines of Jericho, Daughters of the Sphinx, Ladies of the Night and Ruth Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stan Scott and Lilly Griffin; husband, Leonard Selmon; son, John Green; daughter, Barbara Copeland; brother, James “Sonny Dip” Scott; sisters, Rosie Wallace, Rosie Kerney, Leola Moore and Sara Robinson; and grandson, Michael Phelps Jr.
She is survived by son, Charles Selmon of Vicksburg; daughters, Rose Hunt and Patricia Phelps, both of Vicksburg, and Lilly Ruffin of Doddsville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
