Otto Maganos stated that there were 16 varieties of ferns and 42 kinds of trees found at Camp Mondamin. • Mable Buchanan left for Yazoo City and Memphis.

Clara Hill and Horace Van Dyke were married. • B.J. McLaughlin, engineer of the Vicksburg Memphis passenger train, died. • Lucy Richardson of New Orleans was in Vicksburg visiting with her father, Frank Richardson.

Mrs. Robert E. Miller, of Valley Park, died. • Lt. Bill Sam was killed in action in the Pacific. • Roy Rogers starred in “Cowboy and the Senorita,” at the Strand Theatre.

Services were held for Fred Swanagan. • Mrs. W.D. Starness was a patient at Mercy Hospital. • Ida Lupino starred in “Jennifer” at the Joy Theater.

Dave Kennedy died. • Mr. and Mrs. George Hunt were vacationing in Miami and Nassau. • Mrs. D.H. Williams died.

The Randall family held a dinner and reunion at the Holiday Inn. • The Mississippi River fell four feet. • Pamela Janette Scott was in the fifth annual Little Miss Pageant, which was held in Jackson. • Luther Warnock was reappointed to the City Park Commission.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest C. Moore celebrated their 50th anniversary. • John Robert Reeder III celebrated his first birthday. • William Howard McCaleb, of Port Gibson, died.

Miss Vicksburg Angela Whatley won swimsuit and Miss Mississippi State Kari Ann Litton won talent in the third preliminary of the Miss Mississippi Pageant.
