Vicksburg Living has done well, and it’s a team effort

Last week, The Vicksburg Post announced it had won 14 awards at the Better Newspaper Contest, one of which was for the Vicksburg Living magazine.
The magazine was recognized as Mississippi’s best periodical published by the state’s multi-day papers and of course, I was also recognized since I serve as editor.
This is a great honor, but one that I cannot take credit for solely. The Vicksburg Living magazine is a group effort. The team of men and women I work with in the newsroom are all very talented from the writers to the sales team to our office staff. We also have leadership who supports and encourages us continually.
Another person on our team who is vital to the magazine is Allison Dale. Allison lives in Michigan and is our designer. She also does the layout for the newspaper. But when it comes to the magazine, she and I work hand in hand. Allsion has an incredible eye for design, yet she is always open to my artistic perspective.
I think we make a great team. Now that’s not to say she may have become frustrated with me at times. I have been known to change my mind on a few things, but I wouldn’t know because she never complains. Allsion is also understanding of my limited computer skills and whenever I need help, she does everything possible to make my life easier.
So, for sure, without Allison, I don’t think this honor would be possible.
Nor would it have been possible without David Rorick who does the photography for the house features. His images are just beautiful and let me just tell you, it is the bomb to watch how he takes aerial shots of the homes with his drone!
And then there is William Furlong with his delicious recipes, Mary Kaylin Gray who gives out fun tips on everything decorating and Kelle Barfield from Lorelei Books and David Scott at the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library for their expertise on what books to read.
And then there is the community. Without all of you, who have opened your homes, shared your stories and your photos, the Vicksburg Living magazine would not even exist.
So, I want to say congratulations to all of you who have been a part of making the Vicksburg Living magazine number one in the state.
Job well done!
