100 Years Ago: 1924

Mrs. Berry Goodrum, who had been ill, was improving. • Mrs. Lelia Kline accepted a position with the Powell-Kelly Motor Company. • Jack Jordan and his daughter were visiting the Ozark Mountains.

90 Years Ago: 1934

Edmund Brunini was named lecturer for the local Knights of Columbus. • George Ellis, Woodrow Ellis and Col. G.E. Hogoboom were attending the American Legion convention in Biloxi. • Mr. and Mrs. Neil Higgins and their children returned to their home in Memphis.

80 Years Ago: 1944

W.J. Voller addressed the Jackson Kiwanis Club. • Mrs. Sam Logan was in Fort Belvoir, Va. visiting her husband • Oscar Stuart died. 

70 Years Ago: 1954

Alva W. Lloyd died.• Mrs. Charles Davidson was visiting relatives in Seattle. • Services were held for Virgil Branning, a former Warren County resident, who drowned in New Orleans.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Jesse E. Brock, of Utica, died. • Mr. and Mrs. John B. Cook announced the birth of their son, John Jr. • Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Harris, of Rolling Fork, announced the birth of their daughter, Linda Lou. • Elizabeth Knox died.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Ruth M. Lowe became a counselor at Warren Central Junior High School. • A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Vicksburg branch of Hinds Community College. • Stephanie Clemons celebrated her birthday. • A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new Gibson store on South Washington Street.

40 Years Ago: 1984

A tree fell through the living room of Viola Reed’s house on East Avenue. • Storms rolled through Warren County causing damage from lightning, wind and flash flooding.  • T.J. Redditt Jr. died. • Seymore Monet Powell celebrated his second birthday. 

30 Years Ago: 1994

Edwards resident Huldah Jackson died. 

20 Years Ago: 2004

A sewer line collapsed near the east end of Baum Street. 

10 Years Ago: 2014

George Gray died in a fire at his home. • Stanley Ross was charged with burglary of a church and dealing in stolen property. • Tommy Alexander was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a felon.
