John Schwartz became the master counselor of the local Order of DeMolay. • Dr. H.C. Denson was ill with malarial fever. • Mrs. Will Hundermark was ill at the Infirmary.

90 Years Ago: 1934

Mrs. W.B. Halloway underwent surgery in New Orleans. • Mrs. D.A. Petit and her daughter were visiting Chicago. • S.J. Hopkins and Elsie Mammelli were married.

80 Years Ago: 1944

R.E. Selby was elected mayor of Vicksburg. • Mrs. W.B. Givens was seriously ill at the Vicksburg Hospital.  • Lt. Louis P. Cashman Jr. was home on leave en route from Camp Cook, Calif., to Fort Meade Md.

70 Years Ago: 1954

James T. Herbert died. • Brother Anselm was named principal at St. Aloysius High School. • Regina Coccaro was attending a meeting of the National Association of Secretaries in New York City. • Mrs. Genevieve B. Elliott, a Rolling Fork resident, died.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown announced the birth of a daughter. • Mr. and Mrs. Lesta Lee Jr. and their son moved into their new home on Eisenhower Drive. • Admiral and Mrs. Carlton Todd were visiting relatives in Connecticut. • Services were held for W.B. Alford.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Vicksburg native Dr. Haskell S. Bingham was appointed associate dean of admissions and records at Jackson State University. • Mr. and Mrs. William H. Foster were parents to a daughter, Tonya Michelle. • Catherine Wright Hilderbrand, a lifelong Vicksburg resident, died.

40 Years Ago: 1984

Florence Martin Noland Bruce died. • Dominic Maggio picked grapes under his arbor at this home on Drummond Street and was featured on the front paged of the Vicksburg Evening Post. • Services were held for Marie Bingham.

30 Years Ago: 1994

Vicksburg’s trolley was to cater to locals by day and tourists by night.

20 Years Ago: 2004

Four horses were taken into county custody and placed in permanent homes after they were found starving.

10 Years Ago: 2014

Vicksburg’s mayor appointed a committee to examine budget issues, as well as city needs.  • Gregory Pearson was named River Region’s CEO. • St Aloysius held football camp for children five to 12 years old.
