Community members joined faculty and students of Vicksburg Catholic School Tuesday night in a prayer service in memory of recent St. Aloysius High School graduate Korey Sims Jr.
Sims, 18, was killed Sunday night in a shooting that also injured three others at a residence on Abraham Drive.
Tuesday morning, 18-year-old Tavon Cain made his initial appearance in a Warren County courtroom, where he was charged with first degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault in the shooting that claimed Sims’s life. Cain was denied bond by Judge Marcie Southerland.
In addition to prayers for Sims family, the St. Aloysius Class of 2024 is also collecting donations to help the family with funeral costs.
While St. Aloysius has not yet released specific information on how the community at large can donate, the school can be reached at 601-636-2256.
