Six players score goals as St. Al soccer routs Copiah Academy

St. Aloysius weathered the heat and rained down goals on Copiah Academy in its girls’ soccer district opener on Monday.

Samantha Edwards scored three goals, and five other players had one each as the Lady Flashes beat Copiah Academy 8-0.

Audrey Grace Newman and Mary Ruth Montgomery each had a goal and an assist for St. Al.

Sara Smith, Frances Ferrell and Evie Gattle also scored once each. Lynlee McMullin contributed one assist.

Smith, St. Al’s starting keeper, combined with back-up Elle Larson for the shutout.

St. Al will go on the road Wednesday to play Adams County Christian School, in Natchez at 5:30 p.m.
