A weekly recap of performances by college football players from Vicksburg-area high schools:
• Southern University kicker Joshua Griffin (Warren Central) kicked three field goals — from 44, 38 and 49 yards — and was 3-for-3 on PATs in a 42-10 win over Savannah State. Griffin also had four touchbacks on nine kickoffs.
• Nicholls defensive back Laurence Sullivan Jr. (Vicksburg High) had five solo tackles in a 44-21 loss to LSU.
• South Alabama offensive lineman Reed Buys (Warren Central) started at right guard in a 27-20 loss to Ohio.
• South Alabama linebacker Julien Demby (Warren Central) had one solo tackle against Ohio.
• West Alabama defensive back Lamar Gray (Warren Central) had four total tackles in a 45-9 win over Tusculum.
• Delta State tight end Carter Coullard (Briarfield Academy) caught two passes for 32 yards and two touchdowns — both covering 16 yards — in a 55-18 rout of Missouri S&T.
• Alabama State kicker Brandon Gilliam (Warren Central) kicked off five times and had one touchback in a 24-3 victory against Miles College.
• Bluefield College offtensive lineman Jehari Riley (Vicksburg High) started at right tackle in a 31-9 loss to Cumberlands (Kentucky).
• Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College wide receiver Tyler Henderson (Vicksburg High) caught three passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-7 win over Mississippi Delta.
• Mississippi Gulf Coast running back Trey Hall (Warren Central) carried the ball 13 times for 73 yards and one touchdown against Mississippi Delta. Hall also caught one pass for 12 yards.
• East Central Community College defensive lineman Demarcus Jones (Warren Central) assisted on one tackle in a 22-17 loss to Northwest Mississippi.
• Coahoma Community College linebacker Logan Myles (Warren Central) assisted on two tackles in a 31-16 loss to Jones College.
• Copiah-Lincoln Community College linebacker Rakeem Davis (Port Gibson) had three solo tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss in a 15-13 loss to Holmes.
• Hinds Community College defensive back Koury Vample (Vicksburg High) had two solo tackles in a 43-3 loss to East Mississippi.
• Hinds Community College defensive back Kearris Gilliam (Vicksburg High) had one solo tackles in the loss to East Mississippi.
• East Mississippi offensive lineman Shar’Dez Taylor (Vicksburg High) started at right tackle and helped the Lions gain 403 total yards in their rout of Hinds.
• Edmonton Elks linebacker Nick Anderson (Vicksburg High) had five tackles and one interception in the CFL team’s 37-16 win over the Calgary Stampeders.
