Doyce Donald Davidson

Doyce Donald Davidson passed away on September 16, 2024, at the age of 84.

D. D. was born in Sebastopol, Miss. on January 24, 1940, the son of Coyt and Sally Jo Arnold Davidson. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1958, and from Mississippi State University in 1963.

On June 1, 1963, he married his wife Carolyn and moved to Vicksburg to work at Waterways Experiment Station. He worked at WES for 35 years as a Coastal Hydraulic Engineer, retiring in 1998 as Chief, Wave Research Branch, Waves Dynamic Division. He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1964 where he served as a Deacon and volunteered his time on many various mission projects. D.D. enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, golf, mission projects with his church, all MSU sports, the Neshoba Co. Fair, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Carolyn Key Davidson, sons Scott Davidson (Brandy) and Jeff Davidson (Ashley), daughter Leigh Davis (Ricky); sisters Hilda (Joy) McBeth and Barbara Jo Russell; grandchildren Daylen and Colton Vanderford and Ryan, Holden, and Reed Davidson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ashton Thompson and Rev. Jimmy Henry.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Arnold, Randy Oswalt, Richard Stuart, Larry Daggett, Dennis Markle and Calvin Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be all the Deacons of First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Medical-Dental Clinic.
