The local bar association paid honor to the late J.C. Bryson. • Mr. and Mrs. Sam Romano went to the tri-state fair in Memphis. • Frank P. Cashman described an auto trip to Memphis and a visit to the tri-state fair.

Peter Noble died. • Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Miner returned from a visit to Hot Springs, Ark. • Annie French died.

80 Years Ago: 1944

Kannon Ragsdale, with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, died. • Gov. Thomas Bailey addressed the local Kiwanis Club.

70 Years Ago: 1954

The Rev. James Conner, pastor of the Methodist Church in Port Gibson, was appointed as the executive secretary of the Church Council on Alcohol Education. • Hazel Kaiser was ill at Mercy Hospital. • Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Levy celebrated their 50th anniversary with an open house.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Carol Fischel entered her senior year at the University of Georgia. • Chuck Markey enrolled at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. • Lillie Baker was honored by the Redwood Home Demonstration Club on her 92nd birthday.

50 Years Ago: 1974

The sternwheel boat Fayetteville was brought down from the Industrial Harbor to the Vicksburg Marina for use as a tourist attraction. • PFC Carl Edward Hills completed Army basic training at Fort Polk. • Hattie Ingram was selected as the first recipient of a WLBT Communications Improvement Inc. journalism scholarship. • Mr. and Mrs. Hank T. Hearn announced the birth of a son, Jeremy Keith.

40 Years Ago: 1984

Services were held for Ella W. Locke. • Ron Lewis, Delores Coomes and the Rev. Noel Prendergast planned for a St. Michael’s Octoberfest. • Kristopher Mark McKay celebrated his third birthday as Elizabeth Blair Cook celebrated her first birthday. 

30 Years Ago: 1994

Miranda Pampley was crowned homecoming queen at Warren Central High School. • Top-ranked Warren Central defeated Natchez 41-0 in football.

20 Years Ago: 2004

Shawn McKeever was the fourth candidate to enter into the race for District 1 school board.

10 Years Ago: 2014

The Strand hosted a Charlie Chaplin Film Festival. • St. Al’s speedster DeMichael Harris was turning heads.
