West Alabama defensive back Lamar Gray, a Warren Central alum, had four total tackles, two tackles for loss, one pass break-up and two interceptions in a 35-33 double-overtime victory against West Florida on Sept. 21. He was named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

Gray has 14 tackles and two interceptions this season. West Alabama ranks third in NCAA Division II with 10 takeaways.

West Alabama improved its record to 4-0 and moved up to No. 17 in this week’s AFCA Division II Coaches Poll. The Tigers will go on the road this Saturday at 6 p.m. to play No. 3 Valdosta State.
