Funeral services for Marian Cecile Ellis Banks are to be held Saturday, Sept. 28, in the House of Peace Worship Church, 1301 Holly St., at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Harris officiating. Interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Marian Cecile Ellis Banks passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, following a sudden illness. She was 71. She was a retired registered nurse and nurse instructor and member of Greater Mt. Olive M. B. Church. She was active in the Vicksburg Family Development Group, helping with the elderly and children, and Central Mississippi Planning and Development.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ethel Ellis; her brother, Paul Ellis; and her sister, Thelma Ellis.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Banks Jr.; her son, Michael Banks Sr. of Greenville, Miss.; her daughters, Yolanda Banks and Brittany Banks, of Vicksburg; her brothers, Melvin Ellis of Vicksburg, Lawrence Ellis of San Antonio and Clifton Ellis of Concord, Calif.; her sisters, Sammy Maxey, Lorraine Wilson and Corine Ellis, all of Vicksburg, and Paulette Ellis of Brandon, Miss.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
