VFD welcomes home 2 MSFA graduates

Two Vicksburg Fire Department firefighters have graduated as part of Class 211 of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 100–I-II  in Jackson.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said both men were welcomed home Thursday to congratulations on their accomplishment.

“The Vicksburg Fire Department proudly reintroduced two of its own, Gregory Stewart Williams and Tyree Valentine,” Stamps said. “Both are distinguished graduates of the Mississippi State Fire Academy (MSFA) and hold a firefighter certification from the esteemed NFPA 1001-I-II. Their return to Vicksburg is cause for celebration as they bring with them a wealth of knowledge and unwavering dedication to serve the citizens of Vicksburg.”

The MSFA is a seven-week course that includes online work, as well as classroom and hands-on instruction on an array of topics.

The Mississippi State Fire Academy is a division of the Mississippi Insurance Department.
