How They Did: Vicksburg’s college football players — Sept. 28, 2024

A weekly recap of performances by college football players from Vicksburg-area high schools:

• Alabama State kicker Brandon Gilliam (Warren Central) kicked four field goals and was 2-for-2 on PATs in a 26-21 victory over Bethune-Cookman. Gilliam connected of field goals of 49, 28, 37 and 23 yards.

• South Alabama offensive lineman Reed Buys (Warren Central) started at right guard, and linebacker Julien Demby (Warren Central) saw playing time in a 42-10 loss to No. 14 LSU.

• Hinds Community College defensive back Kearris Gilliam (Vicksburg High) had three total tackles in a 42-13 loss to East Central Community College.

• Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College running back Trey Hall (Warren Central) rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-14 victory against Pearl River. Hall scored on runs of 60, 7, 7 and 70 yards.

• East Mississippi offensive lineman Shar’Dez Taylor (Vicksburg High) played at tackle and helped the Lions amass 546 yards of total offense in a 62-14 rout of Coahoma Community College.

• Copiah-Lincoln linebacker Rakeem Davis (Port Gibson) had one tackle and blocked a field goal in a 42-16 win over Southwest Mississippi.

• Edmonton Elks linebacker Nick Anderson (Vicksburg High) had six tackles in the CFL team’s 55-27 loss to Winnipeg.
