The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) has made one arrest in connection with a shooting that took place on Speed Street Tuesday afternoon.

Nicholas Clay, 29, of Vicksburg was taken into custody at the police department on Thursday, Oct. 3, for his part in a shooting incident that occurred in the 1100 block of Speed Street on Tuesday,” VPD said in a statement.

One man was injured in that altercation. Clay appeared before Judge Penny Lawson in Vicksburg Municipal Court Thursday, where he was charged with aggravated assault and shooting into a dwelling. Lawson set Clay’s bond at $50,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

VPD did not indicate that Clay is suspected to have been part of a shooting Sunday night in the same area or in a shooting less than an hour later in Marcus Bottom. Both shootings on Speed Street occurred around a home located at 1107 Speed Street.

VPD said all three incidents are being investigated as separate shootings until evidence connects them.

All three investigations remain active and ongoing.
