Nearly 400 municipal officials from across the state are scheduled to attend the Mississippi Municipal League’s 2024 Small Town Conference in Vicksburg, Mississippi on Oct. 9 and 10 at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The purpose of the conference is to give municipal elected officials, particularly those from the smaller cities and towns, the opportunity to meet together and share ideas and challenges unique to their communities.

This year’s conference will feature a round of Certified Municipal Official education sessions before attendees convene for two rounds of concurrent breakout sessions and two general session presentations over the two-day event. Speakers include representatives from Mississippi Main Street Association, Mississippi Communities Health Advisers, Delta Regional Authority, Mississippi Ethics Commission, Mississippi Development Authority, Broadband Expansion and
Accessibility of Mississippi, MSU Extension Center for Government and Community Development, and the MSU Stennis Institute of Government & Community Development.

Attendees will also hear updates from the Alcoholic Beverage Control on liquor laws and have the
opportunity to participate in a municipal government game show.

The city of Vicksburg, along with Ameristar Casino Hotel, the Vicksburg Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Vicksburg Main Street, will sponsor a Welcome Reception on Oct. 9 at Ameristar Casino Hotel for the attendees that will be in Vicksburg for the event.
