Warren Central (22-10) had perhaps the best season in the 15-year history of its program come to a sudden end. The Lady Vikes tied a school record for wins and beat Grenada 3-2 on Tuesday for their first-ever playoff win.

“It was a great season and I’m really proud of the girls and the strides that we made,” Warren Central coach Matthew Gullett said. “We made the playoffs and hosted for the first time ever, and got our first-ever win in the playoffs as well, and hopefully this momentum will continue as we move toward the future.”

Lake Cormorant (37-5) also beat Vicksburg High 3-0 (25-4, 25-9, 25-9) in the first round on Tuesday.

Gonzalez, who this week was named Miss Volleyball for Class 6A by the MHSAA, had 15 kills in that match. Dallas West had six defensive digs for Vicksburg, while Amari Johnson, Jordan Grace and Zipporah Drake had four each.
