Six greats set for induction to VWSD Athletic Hall of Fame

Six more Warren County sports legends will take their place among the best of the best on Thursday.

Michael Carter, Dale Erves, Larry Erves, Reginald Harris, Mark Smith and Emma Lee Wilson will be inducted into the Vicksburg Warren School District Athletic Hall of Fame.

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the Ardis T. Williams City Auditorium. Tickets are $25 at the door.

Carter, and Dale and Larry Erves, will represent Warren Central. Carter starred in baseball, basketball and football; Larry Erves in basketball; and Dale Erves was a football and track standout.

Harris and Smith both excelled in football at Vicksburg High School. Harris also played baseball and Smith played basketball.

Wilson was a girls’ basketball star at Culkin Academy, which was open until 1964 when it was folded into Warren Central along with fellow county schools Redwood and Jett.
