Warren Central’s Jonah Artman sets Warren County field goal record

Jonah Artman claimed his place as the King of the Kickers on Friday night.

The Warren Central junior kicked two field goals in a 19-7 win over Neshoba Central, from 29 and 32 yards, to set the Warren County high school football record for most career field goals.

Artman now has 24 in three varsity seasons, breaking the record of 23 that Warren Central’s Sam Thigpen set from 1983-85.

Artman is 7-for-8 on field goals this season. In his high school career he is 24-for-29, with a long of 46 yards.
He has also made 105 of 110 extra point attempts.

Warren Central (5-3, 3-0 MHSAA Region 2-6A) clinched a playoff berth with Friday’s win. It can claim the Region 2-6A championship by beating Callaway at home on Nov. 1.
