Who’s Hot: Nick Anderson

Edmonton Elks linebacker and Vicksburg native Nick Anderson was selected as one of two finalists for the Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award. The winner will be announced Nov. 14.

Anderson led the CFL with 116 total tackles this season, and tied for the league lead in defensive tackles with 111. He also had five pass breakups, three quarterback sacks, three tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles and one interception.

Each of the CFL’s nine teams nominated one player for the Most Outstanding Rookie Award, and then one finalist each from the East and West Divisions were selected.

Anderson is the West Division finalist, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Shemar Bridges is the East’s. Bridges caught 83 passes for 933 yards and four touchdowns this season.
