Port Gibson police have said the downtown area is closed off to traffic Wednesday after a morning accident downed power lines and power poles.

According to published reports, a Ryder truck could be seen tangled in the power lines.

As a result, Port Gibson officials are asking all residents and visitors to avoid the downtown area until further notice, including Market and Walnut, Market and Orange, Market and Fair, Market and Olive, Flowers and Fair, Flowers and Olive and Anthony and Market.
