A weekly recap of performances by college and pro football players from Vicksburg-area high schools:
• Mississippi Valley State running back Malik Montgomery (Vicksburg High) had two special teams tackles in a 51-14 loss to Jackson State.
• Southern Miss defensive lineman Caleb Bryant (Vicksburg High) assisted on one tackle in a 37-3 loss to Marshall.
• Delta State tight end Carter Coullard (Briarfield Academy) caught one pass for four yards in a 49-20 loss to Valdosta State.
• Southern University kicker Joshua Griffin (Warren Central) kicked a 27-yard field goal and was 2-for-2 on PAT attempts in a 25-23, five-overtime victory over Bethune-Cookman. Griffin also had two of his three kickoffs result in touchbacks.
• Alabama State kicker Brandon Gilliam (Warren Central) was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on PATs in a 24-23 loss to Grambling. Gilliam made field goals from 45, 20 and 26 yards, and missed from 28. He also punted three times and averaged 33.3 yards, with a long of 44 yards.
• South Alabama offensive lineman Reed Buys (Warren Central) started at right guard and helped the Jaguars total 458 yards of offense in a 34-30 loss to Georgia Southern.
• West Alabama linebacker Lamar Gray (Warren Central) had a team-high 11 total tackles and one-half tackle for loss in a 31-6 blowout victory vs. Shorter.
• Mississippi Gulf Coast running back Trey Hall (Warren Central) carried the ball 19 times for 137 yards and one touchdown in a 33-31 loss to Northwest Mississippi in the MACCC playoffs. Hall also caught two passes for four yards.
• Mississippi Gulf Coast wide receiver Tyler Henderson (Vicksburg High) caught two passes for 14 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown, in the playoff loss to Northwest Mississippi.
• Gulf Coast receiver Zack Evans (Warren Central) returned one kickoff for 29 yards against Northwest.
• Northwest Mississippi quarterback Jack Wright (Warren Central) saw playing time on special teams against Gulf Coast.
• New England Patriots offensive lineman Ben Brown (St. Aloysius) started at center and helped his team beat the Chicago Bears 19-3.
