Soccer Roundup: Warren Central, St. Al fill the net for lopsided wins

Warren Central is getting plenty of opportunities to flex its scoring muscle early this season.
Luke Bond and Duke Esparza each had two goals and an assist, and the Vikings beat Terry 7-3 in a high-scoring boys soccer game on Tuesday.
Warren Central (5-0-1) took 20 shots, 12 of which were on goal. It has scored three or more goals in four of its first six games.
Daniel Wescott had a goal and an assist against Terry, and Jacob Porter and Ebrahim Shuaibi scored one goal each. Reed McClurg and Eriam Diaz-Mejias had assists.
After Terry scored early in the second half to pull to within 3-2, Warren Central struck twice in a span of two minutes to blow it open again. Porter scored off an assist from Diaz-Mejias in the 52nd minute and Esparza scored in the 54th to make it 5-2.
Bond scored in the 68th minute and Esparza put a free kick in the net in the 74th to close out the scoring.
Warren Central will go to Jackson to face Murrah on Thursday. The girls-boys doubleheader will begin at 5:30 p.m.
St. Aloysius 8, Cathedral 0
Jack Dickerson had three goals and two assists as St. Aloysius (2-0) completed a home-and-home boys soccer sweep of Cathedral with another rout Tuesday in Natchez.
St. Al won 7-0 when the teams played last week in Vicksburg.
John Ellis Montgomery and Dalton Windham each had a goal and an assist for the Flashes, while JR McCain and Eli Shiers scored goals.
Jaden Wheeldon, Mason Bourne and Carter Smithhart had one assist each. Keeper Marques Flowers had three saves.
St. Al will play again Friday at home against Adams County Christian School, at 5:30 p.m.
Loyd Star 5, Vicksburg 1
Abel Gonzalez scored by heading in a corner kick from Allen Allan, but it was the only goal Vicksburg High could muster in a loss to Loyd Star on Monday.
Arthur Davis made 15 saves, but Loyd Star’s pressure got to be too much as the game went on. The Hornets scored four of their five goals in the second half.
Girls
Warren Central 9, Terry 0
The Warren Central Lady Vikes (4-2) routed Terry on Tuesday to collect their first winning streak of the season.
Jordan Polk and Mary Clell Allred scored two goals apiece, and Polk assisted on three more.
Brooke Steed, Melissa Herrle, Rachel Opperman, Laney Bull and Sydney Hern also had goals. Evella Fairley and Addi Mullen had one assist apiece, and Addi Keller had two.
Vicksburg 2, Loyd Star 1
Amari Johnson and Trinity McGloster scored one goal apiece, and the Missy Gators beat Loyd Star on Monday for their fourth win in a row to begin the season.
Keeper Ava Pritchard had four saves for the Missy Gators.
Vicksburg beat Wayne County 3-0 and Hattiesburg 2-0 at the Laurel Showcase tournament last Saturday, after beating McLaurin in its opener. It’ll have the rest of the week off before facing Laurel at home on Nov. 18.
