Flashes batter, better Benton in basketball

The St. Aloysius Flashes ran roughshod over Benton Academy on Friday.
Anthony McCloud had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Carson Gleese dropped in 21 points as the Flashes battered Benton 78-10 in a boys basketball game.
Seven players scored for St. Al (3-2), which had 25 assists and 17 steals as a team.
Carson Henderson was a third man in double figures, with 14 points, while Carter Henderson and Dru Gleese had five each. Walt Andrews and Sadler Lambiotte also had four points each.
The junior high game was much more competitive, with St. Al taking a 34-32 overtime victory.
Dru Gleese led the Flashes with 19 points, four assists and four steals. John Hossley scored nine points, while Evan Mallard had 12 rebounds and Adam Dorbeck grabbed 10.
St. Al will go to Jackson on Tuesday to play the Mississippi School for the Deaf. The junior high games start at 4 p.m. and the varsity girls-boys doubleheader at 6.
