Three men received sentences Friday in Warren County Circuit Court in front of Ninth Judicial District Circuit Court Judge Toni Terrett.
Alexander Thomas pled guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance. In February, 2023, Thomas was found with six grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop and in April 2024, Vicksburg Police Department officers responded to a call of a subject passed out in a vehicle at the entrance to a casino. The defendant was again found with methamphetamines and “blue pills.”
Thomas faced a maximum of 26 years in prison for all charges and combined fines of up to $125,000. He had previous charges from 2021 and had been enrolled in a drug court program, which was later revoked. Terrett accepted the state’s recommendation of 26 years, suspended, and immediate confinement into an inpatient drug rehabilitation program.
William Sims pled guilty to the charge of larceny, motor vehicle. The crime occurred at a local casino when Sims was recorded on surveillance cameras picking up a set of keys on the casino floor that had been reported as lost. He was later observed driving a stolen Ford Edge. Terrett accepted the state’s recommendation of five years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 210 days served and four years, 155 days suspended, plus court costs and fines.
Glen Dearman pled guilty to a charge of aggravated domestic violence that occurred in November, 2023. The report stated he assaulted the victim with hands and fists and a lamp. Warren County Assistant District Attorney Brenan Southerland reported the victim does not wish to move forward with charges. Dearman was given a five-year suspended sentence, with time served and court costs and fines. Terrett also added to her order that Dearman enroll in family counseling.
