BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU finally broke out of its November doldrums.

Josh Williams had 151 total yards — 90 rushing and 61 receiving — and ran for two touchdowns as the Tigers beat Vanderbilt 24-17 to snap a three-game losing streak.

LSU’s (7-4, 4-3 Southeastern Conference) hopes of making the College Football Playoff and SEC championship game collapsed with consecutive losses to Texas A&M, Alabama and Florida. It got back on track, however, with a solid performance against Vanderbilt (6-5, 3-4).

After Diego Pavia threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Quincy Skinner Jr. on Vanderbilt’s first play from scrimmage, Williams scored on runs of 20 and 21 yards to put LSU ahead 14-7 at halftime and the Tigers did not trail again.

Garrett Nussmeier threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kyren Lacy with 3:32 left in the third quarter to make it 21-10, and Damian Ramos added a 28-yard field goal early in the fourth.

Nussmeier finished 28-of-37 passing for 332 yards and the one touchdown. Nussmeier threw five interceptions and was sacked 11 times during LSU’s three-game losing streak. He was only sacked once and did not throw an interception against Vanderbilt.

Pavia completed 13 of 24 passes for 186 yards, with the one long touchdown for Vandy. He also ran for a team-high 43 yards and one touchdown.
