100 YEARS AGO: 1924

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Mitchell left to make their home in  Ashion, Louisiana. • Louis Emmich, who had been ill, was reported as improved.  

90 YEARS AGO: 1934

American Legion Allein Post 3 voted for immediate payment of the soldiers’ bonus. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1944

G.H. Matthees, director of the Waterways Experiment Station, was given the War Department’s Exceptional Civilian Service Award, the highest civilian award that can be given to an Army civilian employee.

70 YEARS AGO: 1954

A former Tallulah High School football star, Martin Veragan, was named Mr. L.C. of 1955 at Louisiana College. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. Billy Williamson announced the birth of a daughter, Cynthia Ann, on Nov. 21. • Mrs. A.C. Landwehr was visiting Panama City, Florida. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1974

The 13th annual Red Carpet Bowl was played in memory of the late Billy Ray, who was sports editor for The Vicksburg Post.

40 YEARS AGO: 1984

Suzanne Harris and Jake Dornbusch modeled for Buttons N’ Bows Fashions at the Delta point River Restaurant. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1994

A new home for Vicksburg District operations of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was once again being sought. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2004

Four people pleaded guilty and were sentenced in Warren County Circuit Court.

10 YEARS AGO: 2014

Warren County Circuit Clerk-elect Jan Huland Daigre was preparing to take office.
