The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) is investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of 3rd North and Grove streets.

Chief of Police Penny Jones said, upon arrival on the scene, officers learned the victim – a 32-year-old Black male – had been transported to a hospital by a private vehicle. Jones said he is currently in stable condition.

Preliminary information indicates the victim and the suspect are known to each other, she said, and investigators are actively gathering information.
