Basketball Roundup: Vicksburg sweeps Port Gibson; Vikings get first win

The Vicksburg Missy Gators got their work done early Saturday.
Cynia Johnson scored 24 points, and Zion Harvey had 12 points, 10 steals and six assists as Vicksburg routed Port Gibson 60-19 in a Saturday girls basketball matinee.
Johnson scored 14 of her points in the first quarter as the Missy Gators raced to a big early lead.
Raylyn Parson added six points and Ny’Keria Watson had five for Vicksburg (8-3), which finished 24-for-33 shooting (72.7 percent) from the floor.
The Missy Gators bounced back from a loss in their previous game. They’ll host McComb on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and then travel to Crystal Springs on Dec. 13.
St. Aloysius 46, Tallulah Academy 15
Megan Theriot and Taryn Lusby scored 10 points apiece, and St. Aloysius’ girls basketball team defeated Tallulah Academy on Friday.
Theriot added nine points and four steals, while Lusby had five steals. Mallory Hobson finished with 10 rebounds, Elle Larsen had seven and Olivia Larsen grabbed five.
Annslee Averett also had eight points and four assists, Farrell Roberson had seven points and Marley Gibellino scored five.
Boys
Vicksburg 61, Port Gibson 52
Jadarius Henderson scored a game-high 16 points and Jaquez Jones added 10 as Vicksburg’s boys basketball team beat Port Gibson on Saturday.
Charles Dampeer, Jr. led Port Gibson (2-9) with 13 points, and Kendarion Owens scored 11.
Jaevion Perkins also had nine points and Jaquez Marshall eight for the Gators (7-6), who won their second game in less than 24 hours. They routed South Delta 73-33 on Friday night.
Marshall had 15 points in the win over South Delta and Henderson scored 11.
Warren Central 53, Clinton 48
Roosevelt Harris scored 14 points to lead Warren Central’s boys basketball team past Clinton and to its first win of the season on Friday.
Harris was 6-for-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings (1-7) close it out.
Micah Moore scored nine of his 13 points in the second half, and DJ Gibbs also reached double figures with 10 points. Jaylon Winters scored seven.
Jakobe Cavett led Clinton (6-5) with 14 points and Logan Garner scored 13.
Clinton beat Warren Central 54-13 in the the girls half of the varsity doubleheader.
Warren Central will go to Jackson on Tuesday to play Murrah, and then be back at home on Dec. 13 to face Port Gibson.
St. Aloysius 37, Tallulah Academy 22 (JV)
Dru Gleese, Noah Ponder and Brantley Southerland scored eight points each to lead St. Aloysius’ junior varsity team to a victory against Tallulah Academy on Friday.
