Monday’s game was scoreless at halftime, and then the teams exploded on offense in the second half. Allen’s two goals gave the Gators a 2-1 lead, and then Brown’s goal on a breakaway with about three minutes left sealed it.

Both of Riverside’s goals came on penalty kicks awarded for handballs in the box.

Brown assisted on both of Allen’s goals, and Seven West had the assist on Brown’s goal. VHS keeper Arthur Davis made eight saves.

The Gators will play again Tuesday at home against Morton, and Friday at home vs. MHSAA Region 2-6A rival Columbus. The girls-boys varsity doubleheaders will begin at 5:30 p.m.
