In soccer, “all it takes is one” is a common message — and one the Vicksburg Missy Gators took to heart Friday night.
The Missy Gators had numerous shots and scoring chances, but their only goal came on a second-half penalty kick by Kennedy Mullins. It was enough to secure a 1-0 victory over Columbus at Memorial Stadium.
“We couldn’t find the back of the net tonight,” VHS coach Maurice Gilliam said.
Keeper Ava Pritchard had four saves, and Mullins scored a goal in her fifth consecutive game.
Vicksburg (9-4, 1-2 MHSAA Region 2-6A) won its third game in a row overall, and first in region play. It will host Warren Central Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., and then close out the 2024 portion of its schedule with a road trip to Neshoba Central on Dec. 20.
