Warren Central basketball sweeps Port Gibson

Suddenly, winning is coming easy for Warren Central’s girls basketball team.

Arrionna Jenkins scored 13 points, Camara Evans added 12, and the Lady Vikes beat Port Gibson 53-32 on Friday. It was their second win in eight days, after they went winless last season, as well as their highest point total of the season.

Nine players scored a point for Warren Central (2-7), which raced to a 27-4 lead at halftime. Jenkins and Evans poured in seven points each in the third quarter to further pad it out.

Madison Ward finished with seven points for the Lady Vikes. Ballet Duty, Ana Bridges and Keasia Williams scored five points each.

Ger’Kiya Flowers led Port Gibson (2-11) with 14 points, while Kennajia Goods and Kanaja Murray scored eight each.

Warren Central 78, Port Gibson 53
Jaylon Winters and Micah Moore scored 16 points each, and Warren Central’s boys basketball team cruised past Port Gibson (3-11) on Friday.

Warren Central led 22-8 at the end of the first quarter, extended the margin to 20 points at halftime, and was never threatened. Seven players scored at least four points each.

Nash Morgan finished in double figures with 11 points, while Daniel Brown had nine, Robert Williams seven, and Larry Reynolds Jr. and DJ Gibbs four each.

Ki’Montae Crutison led Port Gibson with 13 points, Dameon White scored 10 and Kendarion Owens had eight.

Warren Central (3-7) won its third game in a row following an 0-7 start. It will go on the road Tuesday to play defending MHSAA Class 4A champion Raymond, and then will host Vicksburg High in its Region 2-6A opener Dec. 20 at 6 p.m.
