A Warren County man is facing a felony child abuse charge after turning himself in to authorities Monday.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said 28-year-old Matthew Hudson Barnes was charged and received a $20,000 bond from Justice Court Judge James Jefferson Monday.

Pace said Lt. Stacy Rollison was made aware of a four-month-old child that was admitted to a local hospital with injuries, including a number of broken ribs, before being transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Pace said the child has since been released from the hospital and is in the care of the Department of Human Services.
