PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — Mississippi State’s women’s basketball team has thrived while living life on the road.

Madina Okot was 13-for-16 from the floor and finished with a career-high 26 points and seven rebounds as Mississippi State beat Maryland Eastern Shore 70-52 on Friday for its fourth win in a row.

Over her last five games, Odot is averaging a double-double with 15.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Eniya Russell also showed out in her home state. The Baltimore native picked up a double-double Friday, her first of the season, with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Denim DeShields knocked down a pair of three pointers on an eight-point day. Destiney McPhaul and Jerkaila Jordan both had six points and two blocks apiece.

Jordan’s last bucket gave her 2,000 career points, making her one of 16 active NCAA Division I players to have achieved that mark.

Mississippi State improved its record to 12-1 as it prepared to return home following a month of road games. Is last game in Starkville was on Nov. 20. It’ll host South Carolina State on Dec. 29 in Humphrey Coliseum, its last non-conference game before the start of SEC play in January.

Missouri State 92, Southern Miss 54
Missouri State shot 50 percent from the field and rolled to a lopsided victory over the Golden Eagles Friday.

Southern Miss shot only 28.9 percent over the last three quarters. It was 4-for-18 from 3-point range in the game.

Southern Miss (4-7) had a brief two-game winning streak snapped, and has not yet won away from Reed Green Coliseum.
Bre Sutton led USM with 16 points, Trinity Rowe scored 11, and Mikaylah Manley had eight.

Kiley Bess led four Missouri State (8-3) players in double figures with 14 points. Kaemyn Bekemeier scored 13, Lacy Stokes had 12, and Tyra Robinson netted 10. Bekemeier and Stokes also had seven rebounds each, and Stokes also had five assists.

Jackson State 66, Mercer 54
Four players scored in double figures as Jackson State (2-8) went on the road and beat Mercer (4-9) on Thursday.
Jackson State’s offense was led by Leianya Massenat, who had 16 points and seven rebounds. Jaileyah Cotton added 13 points and seven rebounds. Taleah Dilworth helped out with 13 points and Diaka Berete scored 11.

Jackson State held a 42-34 rebounding advantage and its bench outscored Mercer 30-14. The Tigers also outscored Mercer 32-15 in the second and third quarters to open a 22-point lead.

Massenat and Berete both came off the bench to lead the charge. Berete had five rebounds and three steals in addition to her scoring.

Ariana Bennett led Mercer with 18 points and Chelsey Bautista scored 10.

Jackson State snapped a seven-game losing streak. It’ll play again Dec. 29 at Missouri.
