The Louisiana State Police (LSP) have identified the victim of a homicide Thursday in Madison Parish as 35-year-old Brittany Mays of Vicksburg.

“Louisiana State Police Detectives-Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) continued the investigation into the January 9, 2025, homicide that occurred in the 500 block of Byson Road. The incident claimed the life of 35-year-old Brittany Mays of Vicksburg, MS,” LSP said in a statement Saturday. “As the investigation progressed and with the information obtained, LSP MFO secured an arrest warrant from the 6th Judicial District Court and arrested 36-year-old Nathan Kirkley of Vicksburg, MS, for second-degree murder.”

Kirkley was arrested without incident and booked into the Madison Parish Detention Center. The investigation remains active and ongoing; further information will be released when it becomes available. MPSO said Friday Kirkley is being held on a $350,000 bond.
