Warren Central had to beat Neshoba Central, and do it by at least two goals, on Friday to clinch its second consecutive girls soccer region championship.
Done and done.
Jordan Polk scored two goals in the first half, and then the Lady Vikes’ defense kept Neshoba Central at bay the rest of the way to secure a 2-0 victory and the MHSAA Region 2-6A title.
Kennedy Smith assisted on Polk’s second goal. Hayleigh Simmons made five saves as the Lady Vikes enjoyed a decisive 22-7 advantage in shots.
Neshoba Central (12-4-3, 5-2) won the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 17, 1-0, which meant Warren Central (16-4-1, 7-1) had to win the rematch by two goals to claim the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Polk scored in the sixth minute, and then again in the 25th to give them the margin they needed.

Keeper Jamarian Shelly only needed to make two saves to earn the shutout. His defense of Jackson Holden, Ebrahim Shuaibi, Conner Leverette and Blake Hern kept Neshoba Central (9-9-1, 4-3) in check,
