A man who allegedly shot his sister’s boyfriend Sunday on Grove Street was quickly taken into custody after fleeing the scene, Vicksburg Chief of Police Penny Jones said.

“The Vicksburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at 2230 Grove St. earlier this evening. Lekeyo Tyler was shot following a domestic-related dispute involving his girlfriend’s brother, Zunkca Patterson. Tyler’s injuries are non-life- threatening,” Jones said.

Jones said Patterson and his sister fled the scene before being apprehended.

“After the incident, both individuals (sister and suspect) fled the scene in a Nissan Altima with a Michigan tag, heading east on I-20 toward Jackson. Thanks to swift law enforcement efforts, Patterson has been taken into custody and will be transported back to Vicksburg.”

Jones did not specify whether the sister will face any charges, but added there does not appear to be an added threat to public safety.

“This was an isolated domestic dispute, and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” she said. “We appreciate your vigilance and cooperation. If you have any additional information, please contact the Vicksburg Police Department.”
