The Vicksburg Gators rode their hot hand to another victory.

Senior Javeion Perkins made six 3-pointers and finished with a season-high 30 points as the Gators beat McLaurin 73-54 Monday at the MLK Classic boys basketball tournament in Jackson.

Vicksburg (11-11) won its third game in a row, and Perkins has played a big part in all three. He had six points and 12 rebounds in a 52-35 victory over Warren Central on Jan. 14, and scored a team-high 12 points in a 46-45 win over Callaway on Jan. 17.

On Monday, he made three 3-pointers in the first half and two more in the third quarter to help the Gators take a 17-point lead into the final period.

Marlyn Foy added 10 points and Kris Washington had nine — on three 3-pointers — for the Gators.
Ty Williams matched Perkins with six 3-pointers and finished with 21 points for McLaurin (18-4).

Vicksburg was scheduled to host Columbus, the top-ranked team in MHSAA Class 6A, on Tuesday, but the game was postponed because of the threat of winter weather and travel concerns. Instead, the teams will play at VHS on Saturday. The time has not yet been set.

Vicksburg will also go on the road Friday at 6 p.m. to play Neshoba Central.
