The Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD) has announced a partnership with Waters Trucks and IC Bus to deploy eight battery-electric school buses. This initiative represents a significant step forward in the district’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and student safety, VWSD officials said.

VWSD said a ribbon-cutting ceremony will commemorate this milestone Feb. 18 at 11:30 a.m. The event will be held at the district transportation headquarters, located 1001 Highway 27 in Vicksburg, and the community is invited to attend.

“These state-of-the-art electric buses are designed to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and provide students with a quieter, more efficient transportation experience,” VWSD said. “This initiative aligns with VWSD’s mission to prioritize student health and safety while embracing forward-thinking solutions for the future.”

“This partnership reflects our dedication to providing our students with the best possible learning environment, both inside and outside the classroom,” VWSD Transportation Director Kimberly Taylor said. “By embracing innovative technologies like electric buses, we’re investing in the future of our students and our community.”
