St. Aloysius kept its momentum going into the postseason.

Carson Gleese led three players in double figures with 16 points and five assists, and the Flashes finished the regular season with a 58-44 boys’ basketball victory over Cathedral on Thursday.

St. Al will play Brookhaven Academy on either Tuesday or Wednesday, at Parklane Academy. The South State brackets and schedule will be finalized and released by the MAIS this weekend.

Against Cathedral, the Flashes got the same kind of balanced effort that has been propelling them throughout their district schedule.

Anthony McCloud had 14 points and four assists, Carson Henderson scored 10 points, and Carter Henderson totaled eight points and five rebounds.

Sadler Lambiotte only scored two points, but filled up the stat sheet with 10 assists, five rebounds and four steals.

Walt Andrews also contributed six points and five rebounds, while Laken Bradley finished with four assists and four steals.

The St. Aloysius Lady Flashes gave a good effort with a patchwork roster, but couldn’t get past first-place Cathedral in their regular-season finale.

Elle Larsen, Taryn Lusby and Annslee Averett led St. Al with four points apiece. Larsen and Mallory Hobson both had four rebounds, Lubsy had seven steals, and Kelcie Bingham finished with four assists. Kennadi Blassingame also grabbed four rebounds.

“We played the No. 1 team in our conference with three high school players and three junior high players. They played their hearts out and I couldn’t be happier with them and their effort,” St. Al coach Walter Hallberg said.

St. Al will be the No. 4 seed from District 4-5A for the Class 5A South State tournament. It’ll play tournament host Parklane Academy in the first round either Tuesday or Wednesday.
